The Government has introduced student loans to enable people aged 19 and over to return to education. If you are aged 19 and over and studying for a qualification at Level 3 or above, you may be able to apply for the Government's new Advanced Learner Loan, which means no upfront costs for your course. Your household income is not taken into account and there is no credit check. You won't pay anything back until your income is over £21,000.
Apply for your loan in plenty of time before your course start date as your place might be at risk if you do not have your funding in place before the course starts.
Some courses are not eligible for the Advanced Learner Loan - see list at bottom of this page.
If you take a loan for your fee and your household income is under £40,000* you may also be considered for support with childcare, travel and other course related costs. Please note that funds are limited and early applications are advised.
