Designs On Student's Art

Andy Baumann, a Graphic Design student at Northbrook College, has won a prestigious Sussex Designer Competition. Andy, 20, who is in his first year on the HND Graphic Design course, saw his creative idea chosen as the winner in a competition to design a poster for The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) in Sussex for Preview Graphics Ltd who ran the competition.

Preview, a leading full service graphic design agency, are closely involved with CIM Sussex and commissioned to design and manage some of their event material. They were extremely impressed with Andy’s poster which they deemed to be the strongest entry and said ‘his work stood out amongst the surprising number of entries for its bold simplicity’.

Course leader, Mike Skinner, got his students involved with the competition when he invited one of his ex Graphic Design students, who now works for Preview, to come and talk at the college. Hannah Macdonald, who only graduated the year before last, has successfully secured a design position with the reputable company along with other first-rate students that Northbrook College has produced.

Andy will be taken to Longridge Press printers to actually see his poster being printed as well as visiting the Preview studio based in Hurstpierpoint to meet the designers. Once printed, his winning poster will be distributed across the region.  He will also receive a subscription to Creative Review magazine courtesy of Preview.
