Bands from seven local high schools took part in the annual S’koolFest organised by Northbrook College at Worthing’s Pavilion Theatre.
The school bands played in the ‘battle of the bands’ style event, with Northbrook offering a range of prizes for winners in different categories.
Prizes included a recording session at Northbrook’s studios as well as song-writing and instrument lessons.
There was also a performance from a band of Northbrook Music students.
The schools taking part were Worthing High, Durrington High, Davison High, Sir Robert Woodard Academy, Shoreham Academy, Steyning Grammar and Blatchington Mill.
Northbrook Music Lecturer, Trevor Grant, says, “S’koolFest started as work experience for Northbrook live sound students, who would take our PA and lights to local schools similar to the now very popular “battle of the bands” formats. The musical talent and enthusiasm from students and staff led to this becoming a celebration of Sussex musical talent. The school heats have led to the best bands from each school having the opportunity to entertain a bigger audience, as well as having the opportunity to work in a bigger venue with professional stage, lights and PA system.”
