The Bloodhound SSC project to design a land speed record-breaking car came to Northbrook this month.
School children and members of the public were invited to see a full scale replica of the Bloodhound car at Northbrook College’s Shoreham Airport Campus.
Coach loads of pupils from several schools in Worthing, Shoreham, Hove and Lewes visited during the day and approximately 250 members of the public attended during the evening.
The Bloodhound SSC project aims to create the ultimate Land Speed Record car, building on the success of Thrust2 and ThrustSSC, with a new target of 1000 mph.
The project was launched at the Science Museum by Lord Drayson, Minister of State for Science and Innovation, with a mission “To confront and overcome the impossible using science, technology, engineering and mathematics”.
The project hopes to enable people to recognise the excitement and the importance of science, technology and maths.
