About this Course


A new programme of creative projects using water-based, media or oil paint if preferred. Follow the tasks or develop your own ideas with plenty of advice and support. This enjoyable course is suitable for all abilities including beginners.

 

Course Content

How to use acrylics (or oils) and watercolours in a range of painting styles, including lessons on improving your drawing, how to start a painting, colour mixing, what to paint on etc. Whatever your level the tasks will be attainable, inspiring and will challenge your skills.

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to show that you have practised several different painting techniques, make decisions on media and composition, produce at least seven finished pieces of artwork and assess your progress on the course

Progression/Career Path

Short drawing or painting classes in the summer term or ACL art courses beginning in September 2019. If you have built up a significant portfolio of artwork you could apply for the part-time or full-time BA Fine Art course at Northbrook MET.

Other Costs

Please bring drawing materials to first session. For the course you will need - paints, paper or board or canvas to paint on, brushes, palette, sketchbook, notebook, folder for handouts. Materials list given in week 1 - if advice needed before buying paints.

Maggie has a Masters degree in Fine Art, a BA Honours degree and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She has won local and national art awards and works as an artist and designer in a variety of media.
