About this Course

Explore drawing with line, tone and colour, using a range of drawing media. This creative course is suitable for all abilities including complete beginners and is ideal for building a portfolio of artwork.

 

Course Content

Basic drawing skills using line and tone, drawing techniques from traditional to contemporary, drawing from observation, introducing colour, drawing with pen and ink, building a portfolio of artwork, art history, artists who use drawing techniques.

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to show that you have practised several different drawing techniques, show that you can plan an image effectively regarding scale and composition, produce at least 6 pieces of finished work, assess your progress with the activities at an introductory or intermediate level.

Progression/Career Path

ACL Art courses in the Spring term, for example: Painting the Landscape, or Painting or Drawing Portraits or the Life Drawing course in the Summer term. ACL painting and drawing courses starting in September or arts courses in FE/HE.

Other Costs

Please bring pencils, eraser and paper to first session. During the course you will need: papers, masking tape and additional drawing media, e.g. charcoal, conte pencils, pens, pastels.

The Tutor

Maggie has an MA in Fine Art, a BA (Hons) degree in Painting and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She has won awards in local and national art exhibitions. Maggie works as both artist and designer in a wide variety of media.
