About this Course


Landscape in art from rural idyll to town and citycapes, discover new techniques using acrylics, gouache or oils to create painted images of the world around you. All abilities welcome.

 

Course Content

How to use a range of different paint media to create beautiful landcape paintings and images of natural forms, exploring composition, texture and colour, representational and abstracted landscape, art history.

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to show that you have practised colour mixing, show that you can plan an image effectively regarding composition, colour and tone, produce at least 5 pieces of work including samples and finished artwork, assess your progress with the activities at an introductory or intermediate level.

Progression/Career Path

ACL course 'Painting' in the Summer term or ACL Art courses starting in September, or arts courses in FE/HE.

Other Costs

Please bring any paints you have to first session. During the course you will need: brushes, palette, paper or canvas, watercolours and acrylics or oils. If using oils you will need Zest-it solvent instead of turps. Also bring notebook - advice on materials in week 1 if necessary.

The Tutor

Maggie has an MA in Fine Art, a BA Honours degree in Painting and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. She has won awards in local and national art exhibitions. Maggie works as both artist and designer in a wide variety of media.
