About this Course

A fun and hands-on printmaking workshop combining screenprinting and relief printing methods. Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience of printmaking. Students will be guided through all the stages from design to printing.

Course Content

  • Introduction to mixed media silk screen printing.
  • Drawing and cutting paper stencils.
  • Mixing and experimenting with different coloured inks.
  • Screenprinting onto different coloured, collaged and painted papers.
  • Overprinting with wooden letterpress blocks.

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to produce a series of mixed media screen and relief prints.

Progression/Career Path

You could try some other printmaking processes at our Saturday workshops or evening classes or use the work as part of a portfolio for applying to further education courses in Art & Design.

Other Costs

Bring in reference material to work from e.g. A4 size simple photographs or drawings plus a pencil, glue stick, scissors and a craft knife. Inks and paper are provided but you may want to bring in any interesting papers or card to print onto and for collage. We recommend that you bring a packed lunch and hot/cold drinks. Vending machines for cold drinks available but the canteen is closed

Karolyn Mnich MA (sequential design &illustration) is a freelance illustrator and printmaker with over 20 years experience teaching Art & Design.
