About this Course

For students of all abilities. As students bring in their own work to read, the variety of writing they experience makes for a stimulating and creative atmosphere. There is also a teaching focus each week.

 

Course Content

In this course, we will be looking at landscape in your writing and why it is so important. In addition to teaching handouts, there will be a variety of class-based writing exercises designed to stimulate creativity and help students sustain a writing habit.

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to understand how the time of day, weather and setting can affect the mood and give your writing depth and impact.

Progression/Career Path

Many students have attended this course for a number of years, finding the ongoing advice and encouragement helpful to their writing. A number of students have also had their work published in magazines and been placed in writing competitions.

What you need to bring

Please bring along writing materials and your own work. There are no other costs involved in this course.

The Tutor

A qualified teacher, Sarah Higbee has recently signed a publishing contract for a novel and also had articles, flash fiction, poetry and short stories published. She has been running a series of successful courses at Northbrook for the past 8 years.
