About this Course

Get into the festive spirit by making stunning stained glass hanging Christmas ornaments using the copper foil (Tiffany) technique. A relaxed and enjoyable day where you'll learn how to cut, foil and solder glass together. No experience necessary, and all materials included

 

Course Content

Cutting curves and straight lines in glass safely and confidently How to apply copper foil tape to glass How to solder your decorations together and attach a wire loop for hanging

What you will achieve

By the end of the course you will be able to cut glass into a variety of shapes, wrap the pieces in copper foil and solder it all together.

Progression/Career Path

This taster day of the copper foil technique will help you discover if working with glass is for you. If you decide that it is, you can progress to the 30 week Stained Glass Course which covers both leaded lights and copper foil stained glass methods.

Other Costs

An oil filled glass cutter (www.creativeglassguild.co.uk), (College has some to be shared). A cork from a wine bottle, a small clean paintbrush, an empty yoghurt pot and an old flannel. Please wear old clothes and closed toe shoes, you may also want to bring an apron. If you need reading glasses, please bring them as there is some close up work. There are vending machines for hot and cold drinks but you may wish to bring a packed lunch as the canteen will be closed.

The Tutor

Naomi Frances MA(Sequential Design/Illustration) is passionate about glass and has been designing and making in this medium for over 25 years. She has completed many projects from pub windows to stained glass portraits to Tiffany lampshades. She exhibits regularly.
