The Course

This course provides underpinning knowledge and practical training in complex machining techniques and Pneumatic & Hydraulic Systems. It prepares candidates with those skills needed at NVQ Level 3 and fulfils the role of a Technical Certificate. The course is also open to those who do not have access to the NVQ scheme.

 

Entry Requirements

One of the following:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Engineering or equivalent with GCSE Maths and English grade A*-C
  • Maths and English GCSE grade A*-C
  • Relevant industrial experience with GCSE Maths A*-C

Other Costs

Personal Protective Equipment costs.

Funding & Financial Support

19-23 year olds

  • If you do not already have a full qualification at Level 3 or above and you have fewer than 2 A Levels, you may not have to pay fees. Your eligibility for this funding is normally assessed at time of enrolment.
  • If you are not eligible for the above, you can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan (described below)


Advanced Learner Finance

  • If you are not eligible for the above fee remission or you are age 24+, you can apply to the Government for an Advanced Learner Loan, whereby the Government will pay your fee and if your future salary is over £21,000 a year, you will start to repay it gradually. Income under £40,000

  • If your household income is below £40,000 per year, you can contact our Financial Services office about applying for help with your expenses during your course (travel, books, childcare etc). See our Financial Support page.
