The Course

This unique fashion design programme is for students wishing to pursue a career in the fast moving world of fashion, offering a three year full time degree programme specialising in menswear and/or womenswear design. Students will be encouraged to be original and innovative in the development of fashion design work, supported through creative, theoretical and professional practices that inform the world of fashion today.

Working within a studio environment, students will explore distinctive and creative components within the fashion programme and these will be underpinned by a developing knowledge of fashion marketing, the business environment and fashion design within a historical, social, ethical and cultural context.

Progression/Career Path

This course aims to prepare students with a range of professional and transferable skills for employment or further study and future careers within fashion and/or creative industries.

Career opportunities include fashion designers, freelance designers, self-employment/own fashion business, trend predictions, stylists, design consultants, fashion illustrators, Savile Row tailors, pattern cutters and garment technologists as well as areas within fashion marketing, branding, retail, merchandising and buying.

Entry Requirements

Individual offers may vary UCAS tariff: minimum 120 points Applicants should generally meet one of the following minimum entry requirements:

  • 2 x A2 Levels in appropriate subjects n 1 x A2 Level and 2 X AS Levels in appropriate subjects
  • Foundation Studies Diploma in Art & Design/Media
  • National Diploma Level 3 in appropriate subject n Access Diploma in related subject
  • An equivalent overseas qualification together with a proven ability in spoken and written English (IELT 6 overall)
Mature students without formal qualifications but with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
Interview Applicants are interviewed with portfolio
Portfolio We like to see a portfolio of recent work that comprises: creative research sketchbooks, drawings, artwork, design ideas and a written essay/contextual studies course work.
