The objective of these qualifications is to provide informed and prepared potential recruits.

 

Entry Requirements

Either
Three GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English and maths
or
a relevant Level 1 including Level 1 English and Maths


You will also need an appropriate reference.

Course Content

The course will enable learners to prepare to make a recruitment application or provide a basis for further study and progression towards the entry requirements of a specific Uniformed Service.


At all Levels the units have been developed to gain a vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the Uniformed Services. The units have been developed to provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills, techniques and personal qualities.


Level 2 units include:

  • Investigate employment in the Uniformed Services
  • Develop team working and problem solving skills
  • Follow Uniformed Service routine
  • Map reading and navigation
  • Undertake adventurous activities


English and Maths are part of the core programme of study. Students who have not achieved an A*-C or 9-4 in English and Maths will be required to study the appropriate level as part of their main qualification. More information

Progression/Career Path

After 1 year at Level 2, you can achieve a NCFE Level 2 Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services. This qualification can lead to careers in services such as the police, fire service, prison service and armed forces, or with a suitable tutor reference and Level 2 English and Maths, you can apply for Level 3.
