About this Course

Level 2 allows you to experience a broad range of disciplines, including:


  • Painting
  • 3D Design/Sculpture
  • Graphics
  • Illustration
  • Fashion
  • Textiles
  • Computer Based Art & Design
  • Photography
  • Printmaking


The programme is delivered through practical studio based activity together with research into contemporary and historical design practice. There is a focus on the development of analytical drawing skills and transferable skill acquisition.


This course will help you to fulfil your creative potential in a friendly and supportive environment, whether you want to go into employment or prepare for study at a higher level.


GCSEs in English and Maths are part of the core programme of study. Students who have not achieved a A*-C / 9-4 grade in English and Maths will be required to study the appropriate level as part of their main qualification. More information

 

Entry Requirements

To start on this course you need:


Either
At least three GCSEs at grade D/3 or above, including English and maths
or
a relevant Level 1 qualification (including English and Maths requirements).


You will need to show a portfolio of your work at interview.

If your qualifications are lower or higher than the above:


- Students who do not have the above qualifications could start by doing a year on the Level 1 course instead, before applying to move on to this Level 2 course. Click here for Level 1 course.


- Students with at least 4 GCSEs at grades A-C / 9-4 could start on the Level 3 course instead. Click here for Level 3 course.

Progression/Career Path

After 1 year at Level 2 you can achieve a UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design.

This means you can apply for the Level 3 Art & Design course – or for one of our other Level 3 courses in either Fashion or Graphic Design.
