About this Course

This course is designed for students interested in the live sound engineering and technical support of a variety of music and entertainment events including gigs, festivals, clubs and theatres.


 

Entry Requirements

To start on this course, you need:


At least 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, preferably including English and maths

or
a relevant Level 2 qualification, including English and maths requirements.


(If you will not have the above qualifications, you may be able to start on the Level 2 course in Music Technology instead, before applying to move on to this Level 3 course.

Course Content

You will be working in our state-of-the-art new studio complex learning sound engineering and music production techniques. You will work in The Northbrook Theatre for staging and basic lighting and also at local venues in support of College bands and events.


You will also study the music industry, looking at safety and legal aspects, as well as developing your career and how to achieve a regular income from it.


If you have less that grade C/4 in GCSE English or Maths, you will also study that subject at college.

Progression/Career Path

After 1 year, you can achieve a UAL Diploma In Music Performance and Production. This means that you can progress on to the Extended Diploma course (below).


After 2 years, you can achieve a UAL Extended Diploma in Music Performance and Production. This is equivalent to 3 A Levels. This means you can apply for university level courses or seek work in the music and entertainment industry.
