S'koolFest

SkoolFest logo The best young singers, songwriters, musicians and bands from our local schools come together every year for a big gig. Sponsored by Music at Northbrook College, we have amazing talent picked after a series of local heats.

This year we took our big PA system and lights to local schools, including Worthing High, Chatsmore, Durrington High, Shoreham Academy,Blatchington Mill, Dorothy Springer, Sir Robert Woodard Academy, St.Andrews and others. Other schools still applying for the final places, while a multi-school Gospel-style choir is also rehearsing for an appearance.

This is not a "knock out" competition which only finds one winner. Prizes include three days in the professional recording studios at Northbrook, performing slots at local festivals, music technology sessions for school students and teachers, rehearsal studio time, and free lessons in all aspects of performance.

Skool’Fest Started as work experience for our live sound students, who would take our PA and lights to local schools similar to the now very popular “battle of the bands”.

The musical talent and enthusiasm from students and staff across the area have led to this becoming a celebration of Sussex musical talent. The school heats now lead to the best bands from each school having the opportunity to entertain a bigger audience, as well as having the opportunity to work in a bigger venue with professional Stage, lights, and PA. The final “sweetner” for the best band on the night is the opportunity to record a professional C.D. at our industry quality studios.

This year's final: 22 May 2013 at Worthing Pavilion Theatre
