The Course
The Foundation Degree is a two year full time course. The two pathways available at Northbrook share several common modules in the first year, with specialist modules in the second year. Students on the Foundation Degree in Information Systems will develop a range of theoretical and practical skills for the development of software applications for modern businesses - particularly web-based systems. You will develop an understanding of the concepts necessary to use object-oriented techniques in the analysis, design and production of such systems. You will use industry-standard tools and technologies to gain practical experience of building a range of software applications.

A wide range of career opportunities are available within the Computing industry including, for example, software development, systems integration and testing, sales support. The Foundation Degree route offers the opportunity to transfer to a relevant Honours Degree. After completion of the Foundation Degree, students may join a Degree top-up course.

160 UCAS points from one of the following:
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in a relevant subject
- A Levels - at least 140 points from A2 Levels (including a relevant subject)
- International Baccalaureate: 24 points
- Access Course alongside GCSE (minimum grade C) in at least three subjects including English Language and Mathematics. Key/Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Communications are recognised equivalents.
Mature students without formal qualifications but with relevant experience are encouraged to apply.
