Students from Northbrook’s specialist unit for people with learning difficulties have joined a new choir made up of young people with learning disabilities from all over the south. The Carousel Singers are set to perform at Glyndebourne and other major arts venues - and possibly even at the Olympics.
The choir, led by renowned choir leader, James Redwood, will perform as part of Gold Run - a show combining film, music and visual art made by learning disabled people. The show is inspired by the 2012 Paralympics when, for the first time, people with learning disabilities will be able to compete alongside those with physical disabilities.
James Redwood visited Northbrook this week to meet the students who will soon be travelling on the college mini bus to weekly rehearsals in Brighton.
Gold Run is a joint project devised by Carousel, Glyndebourne Opera and Pallant House Gallery.
