Northbrook Tutor Wins Prize
A
Northbrook College Art tutor has won an award in one of the most prestigious open art competitions in the UK. Maggie Tredwell was one of 9 artists to be chosen from over 2,000 entrants in the Artists and Illustrators’ magazine’s Artist of the Year competition 2009.
Maggie’s painting of a Worthing fish and chip shop, ‘Old Nick’s’, was runner-up in the landscape section and was featured in the August edition of the magazine. The painting has been exhibited this summer in the ‘Art in Action’ Art Fair in July and at the O3 Gallery in Oxford in September.
This year, artists from across the country entered work in three categories: Still Life, Landscape or Portraits. Nine paintings were chosen to receive awards. The judging panel included Craig Wylie, the 2008 BP Portrait Prize winning artist.
Maggie attended the Prize-winners ceremony at the O3 Gallery to meet the other winners and receive her award.
Recent Northbrook BA Fine Art graduate Daniel Harding also entered the competition, receiving a commendation for his still-life painting ‘Sauces’, which was also on show at the O3.
