Northbrook Illustration graduate, Stephanie Lidbetter has been approached by Oxford University Press to illustrate Danny Dread, a children's chapter book by Ben Davis.
The prestigious publisher follows new designers and contacted Stephanie after viewing her online portfolio. She produced a full coloured book jacket, 12 illustrated single and double page spreads and vignettes and was over the moon to be headhunted for the opportunity. The book is out on the 6th August 2015 and can be purchased through Amazon and Waterstones.
As well as being headhunted by Oxford University Press, Stephanie was also a top 10 finalist for last year’s D&AD awards. D&AD celebrates and nurtures outstanding work in design and advertising by awarding the finest work each year. A D&AD Pencil is recognised the world over as a symbol of the very highest creative achievement and budding film directors and photographers get the opportunity to be recognised with a D&AD Pencil and have their talent promoted back to the industry. Stephanie produced an illustrative piece for a computer arts front cover and as well as reaching the finals of the competition, also had her work published in the magazine.
Stephanie is currently working on showcasing her work for an exhibition in London where she can network with publishers and other illustrators and is writing and illustrating her own children books and a collection of children surface patterns. She says that the thing she loves most about being an illustrator is “jumping in and out of different worlds.”
