Northbrook College is delighted at the news that it is to receive further Government funding for the on-going redevelopment of its Broadwater 14-19 campus.
Further investment in Northbrook College will provide a wealth of benefits for the people of Worthing and beyond, with a first class fully accessible campus fit for the 21st Century.
The redevelopment project is well underway with the iconic first building already complete and clearly visible from Broadwater Road.
Local MPs and councillors have long been calling for higher levels of investment in education and skills training in Worthing and were very supportive of the bid that Northbrook submitted. The College initially received a £1 million grant last year and has now been awarded a further £2 million for this essential and long-awaited rebuild.
The plans for the next phase will include a brand new social space for students, new workshops and classrooms, an expanded apprenticeship and employment zone as well as a fitness suite. The rebuild should be completed by Autumn 2013 and preparations are underway.
Northbrook Principal, Sue Dare, said, "In these times of uncertainty, it is heartening to know that Worthing will benefit from an outstanding centre for vocational education. Skills are to play a vital role in the region’s recovery from recession.”
