Students at Northbrook College have created a series of colourful posters to brighten up the underpass at Worthing Train Station.
The students with learning disabilities took photos of the piers in Brighton, Worthing and Bognor Regis and made three stunning mixed media collages with photos on acetate, tissue paper, doilies, buttons, sequins and pegs.
The project was initiated by Northbrook College’s Learning Disabilities tutor Mary Bleasdale, who teaches the Community Projects course at Northbrook. She contacted Southern Community Rail Partnership, following a request for partners to help with projects which aim to reconnect the community with its railways.
Mary said, “Every time I walk through the underpass, I am reminded of the time and energy that the students put into this vibrant work. The collaboration with Southern Rail and Sussex Community Rail Partnership has ensured that this quality work has been made visible to the whole community. It’s a celebration of our learners’ achievements and their community involvement.”
The budding artists were David Weller, Paul Mitchell, Joshua Sage, John Bizzell, Anne Beaumont and Suzanne Jacques.
