students designs recognised by prestigious society

A Northbrook College student’s design work has been commended by a prestigious textile society.

BA (Hons) Textile Design student Victoria Prince, received a commendation from the Bradford Textile Society, the oldest of its kind in the UK, for her printed design ‘The Galaxy’.

Victoria’s work was recognised in the Association of Fashion & Textile Courses award category, ‘For a Fashion Fabric, which may include a combination of processes, including embroidery, designed for a specific outfit or garment collection.’

Victoria said, “The award was for a piece of work I produced on a previous project this year, with a theme of The Galaxy. I produced an openscreen design on fabric, consisting of splashy and swirly textures using a purple and blue colour mood. I entered this design into the competition on a mood board with my artwork and fashion illustrations.

“I received this award in the post one morning and was completely shocked and thrilled that I won a commendation award! I feel I have achieved something great from my degree.

“My future plans are to set up a print design business with my own boutique, selling my fashion designs.”

Textile Design Tutor Jude Woodward said, “This is great for Victoria as it gives her external recognition for her work – an exciting start to her future career.”
