Hairdressing students help homeless

Northbrook MET hairdressing students have provided some welcome care to clients at Worthing Churches Homeless Project.

The Level 3 apprenticeship students provided haircuts for homeless people, in a special session arranged by their Course Leader Lauren Parry.

The idea came following a visit by a male client to Northbrook's Allure Hair and Beauty Salon at the Broadwater Campus.

Lauren said, "The client seemed to have low self-care and his vulnerability touched the students. This prompted a conversation about how the students could use their skills to help people such as the homeless to feel better about themselves."

"Students Lara McClarnon and Alex Ternent excelled themselves with both their level of skills and their kindness and selflessness - I am very proud of both of them."

A further session is now being arranged for the Littlehampton branch of the project.
