Biography

Nigel is a multi-instrumentalist with a wealth of performing experience, from orchestral and brass band work to rock, blues and jazz. He has worked with Captain Sensible, Elton Dean (Soft Machine), folk singer Jo McCafferty and jazz musicians Bobby Wellins, Rod Paton, Harry Beckett and Ian Carr.

 

Nigel has recorded 14 albums and played over 2000 live concerts with progressive rock band Stone Cold, composing original material in collaboration with singer-songwriter Alistair Goodwin. He has also written works for orchestra and chamber ensembles, including two works for rock band, choir & orchestra  From June to September (1993) and  The Electric Blue Gnu (2009).

 

Other Information

Current areas of research: cross-cultural fusion; applications of polyrhythmic techniques in improvisation and arranging.
