The Course
This unique course is suitable for student movement based/visual performers focused on creating original physical theatre. The southern cultural hub supporting international festivals places emphasis on site specific, visual and interactive performance. In response, this course aims to question the boundaries of performance by exploring the relationship between the disciplines and between the audience and performer. This enquiry is underpinned by the development of skills in physical theatre using a variety of techniques and movement forms including dance, mime, mask and clowning, integrating text with movement. There is emphasis on self-devised/directed original work looking at companies such as Frantic Assembly, DV8 and Derevo. Previous student productions have toured to the Edinburgh Festival, Brighton Festival, Hayward Gallery and regional theatres.
