Entry Requirements
Start at Level 2 if you have 4 GCSEs at grade D or above (indluding English) or a relevant Level 1 qualification with a Merit profile.
Start at Level 1 if you do not have the above qualifications. A reasonable standard of literacy and numeracy (which will be assessed at interview) and an appropriate reference will be required. Entry is dependent on interview.
About this course
This course offers an opportunity for progression to enter employment in the public service sector. At Level 1 the course provides opportunities to develop confidence, self esteem and knowledge to enter employment, seek job opportunities or move on to further education. At Level 2 the course offers opportunities to gain a vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the public service sector. The units have been developed to provide opportunities for learners to develop a range of skills, techniques and personal qualities.
Units of study could include:
Public service skills
Uniformed public service
Fitness
Crime and its effects on society
Expedition skills
After this course
After 1 year at Level 1, you can achieve a BTEC Level 1 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Public Services. This means you can apply for Level 2.
After 1 year at Level 2, you can achieve a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services. This qualification can lead to careers in services such as the police, fire brigade, prison service and armed forces.
