COURSE OVERVIEW
Almost every industry you can think of relies on mechanical engineering and there is always a demand for mechanical engineers. This course will provide you with the technical levels of competence to progress to a variety of further and higher level courses and careers, or gain an apprenticeship. Our high specification workshops give you access to: lathes, vertical and horizontal milling machines; drilling and welding equipment; along with advanced composites and computer aided design (CAD). –

FURTHER INFORMATION
To join the subsidiary diploma course, you should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including maths, science and English. To join the extended diploma you must have successfully completed the subsidiary diploma course.
You can progress to university courses in a variety of engineering disciplines. Alternatively, you can progress to our part-time HNC in Mechanical Engineering.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.

HOW THE APPLICATION PROCESS WORKS
Step 1
Set Up Your Account
You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.
Step 2
Apply
Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Step 3
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Step 4
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.
Step 5
What next?
Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
