COURSE OVERVIEW

This course covers a range of theatre arts disciplines, both performance-based and behind-the-scenes in production. You can opt to focus on either performance subjects (acting, dance, singing) or production subjects(lighting, sound, set design). If you are still deciding whether you prefer performance or production, you can opt to mix and match the course units and gain a general qualification. This will allow you to specialise further down the line in your studies.

The College offers facilities unrivalled in the region, including a 160-seat professional theatre, high specification rehearsal and dance studios, and extensive production workshops. This practical course will teach you how to plan and rig the lighting, sound and projection systems for plays, musicals, gigs and festivals. Our main and studio theatres are equipped with industry-standard lighting boards, sound mixing desks and professional software. The live shows performed by our acting and music students provide an ideal environment to train for technical and stage management roles in a range of formats. Students’ skills are developed through practical workshops, seminars and studio performances.
