COURSE OVERVIEW
School Business Professionals (SBPs) perform a role which is unique toschools, administering and managing the financial, site and support serviceswithin the school context. They provide essential support to school leadershipteams, implementing their financial and business decisions.SBPs may work in any school phase (primary, secondary, special) and indifferent school structures: single academy trusts, multi academy trusts(MATs), local authority maintained schools and federations, etc. Consequently,they can work in very different settings with varying numbers of people thatthey report to including the headteacher or School Business Director (SBD).Within this context, SBPs have a shared number of roles which shape their day-to-day activity to make this a homogeneous role in schools.SBPs interact with all school stakeholders regularly to advise on and manageschool business practices effectively. This requires them to understandeducational issues as well as business management.Their work is performed in the context of ensuring that public funds are usedeffectively. They must adhere to the principles of making the best use ofschool resources to enable all students to achieve their potential and to meetthe aim of increasing social mobility for children and young people. SBPs mustalso understand that their role is of vital importance in relation to schoolgovernance and compliance. They must have a good understanding of educationalpolicies and be able to implement change.There is a range of job titles that this occupational profile relates toincluding a School Business Manager, HR Manager, Finance Manager, OfficeManager, School Administrator, Business Support Officer, Bursar, etc.

You must have an employer in place and be in a suitable role that covers thethemes in the course information tab to complete this apprenticeship.All prospective new apprentices will complete an initial assessment of theircurrent knowledge skills and behaviours through a skill scan. This mustindicate that there is substantial new knowledge skills and behaviours to belearnt by completing this apprenticeship.A prospective apprentice will also need to show that they are currentlyworking at or towards the minimum L2 skills for Maths and English. Where alearner has not already achieved GCSE grade 4 to 9 (A-C ) or equivalent Level2 English and Maths Functional Skills, they must do so before taking the end-point assessment.

There is no cost to an apprentice.
If you are an employer employing an apprentice over the age 21 (without an EHCP) then you are likely to pay 5% towards the training cost.
If you are an employer with an Apprenticeship levy (i.e. your payroll exceeds £3 Million) then you will pay in full from your levy account.
