Three Centuries of Art in Europe: Johannes Vermeer, Caspar David Friedrich, Gustav Klimt – 1 Saturday/Autumn Term

COURSE OVERVIEW

Three powerful and very unique artists. We will not only take a close look at their work but also at their troubled lives and the times they lived and were influenced by: Johannes Vermeer: 17th century Baroque painter of the Dutch Golden Age (The Girl with the Pearl Earring), Caspar David Friedrich: 18th & 19th century German, Romantic painter and Visionary (Wanderer Above a Sea of Fog) and Gustav Klimt: Austrian painter of the art nouveau style of the 19th and 20th century Vienna Secession (The Kiss).

By the end of the course you will be able to take away interesting and not so well-known and sometimes quirky facts about those three amazing artists and their lives and the times they lived in.

Tutor: Monika Lind. This workshop runs on a Saturday 1000-1600
