This will determine what course and level are best for you and your goals. These courses are designed for native speakers of English but we’re happy to accept students who have English as a second language if they have achieved or are working, at least, at level 1 ESOL.
Pre-GCSE
Are you keen to gain a GCSE in English but think you need a bit more time to prepare? Our Pre-GCSE course could be the right level for you. This course will give you the time and skills you need to be successful on the GCSE qualification in the future
GCSE English
This course is a key qualification which is asked for as an entry requirement for many courses and jobs. GCSE English aims to develop your oral communication, language, reading, creative writing skills, and text analysis. The team is made up of experienced English teachers and we have consistently achieved very high success rates and student satisfaction. We have classes in the daytime and evening and all classes last for 3 hours. Exact times of the classes you can choose from will be provided after you have been to the college and completed the assessment.
Please email aemworthing.gbmc.ac.uk if you have any questions about any of our English courses.
FURTHER INFORMATION
These courses are open to adults aged 18 or older who have not yet achieved a grade 4 (or C) in GCSE English. They are designed for native speakers of English but we’re happy to accept students who have English as a second language if they have achieved or are working, at least, at level 1 ESOL.
This will depend on your goals. You may decide that you want to use these qualifications to access further education or training courses which require an English qualification. Or it might be that the qualification helps you to progress in your employment.
This will depend which course you take but is likely to include:
- written exams which assess your reading and writing; and
- an assessment of your participation in speaking and listening activities.
