COURSE OVERVIEW
If you want a career working with hair, make-up and special effects in theatre, tv, film and media this is the course for you.
You will gain a breadth of practical skills as well as working collaboratively with students across our performing arts department to produce hair and make up for live performances in our 160 seat theatre and other internal/external venues.
Students will learn through practical workshops, industry-relevant seminars and coursework. Industry-based projects and work experience opportunities are part of the course curriculum, enabling you to further develop the skills to progress to a career in the industry with the energy and confidence to thrive.
In the second year you will learn more advanced skills and be supported to identify a progression pathway for Higher Education or employment.
FURTHER INFORMATION
To join this Level 3 course, you should have at least 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, preferably including English and maths, and examples of your creative work to show at interview.If you do not have the above grades, you can start on one of Northbrook’s Level 2 courses.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical project work, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.
