This course has been devised in response to industry and student-led demand for practical training in makeup and hairdressing techniques for theatre, film, TV, fashion, festival, carnival and entertainment arenas.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Based in our professional salon, this course covers all the required elements for a career as an employed or self-employed beauty therapist. You will learn to provide a wide range of treatments, as well as gain knowledge in physiology, anatomy, and health & safety.

FURTHER INFORMATION
You can start at Level 2 if you have at least 3 GCSEs at grade 3 (D/E) or above, including English, science, and maths. In addition to the specified entry requirements, you may be required to undergo an assessment of your English skills to ensure you are at a sufficient level for your chosen course.
After Level 2, you can progress to Level 3 Beauty Therapy or Level 3 Theatrical & Media Make-up.
Future careers
Our Beauty Therapy qualifications allow you to become a member of the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) or the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT). There are numerous employment opportunities after studies, including work in:

- Destination/day spas
- Hotels
- Cruise ships
- Independent/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.
