Students at Northbrook College have been weaving together a fantastic project, inspired by an exhibition at the Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft.

The BA (Hons) Textile Design students were tasked with designing and sampling products, inspired by the museum’s Tadek Beutlich exhibition.

After visiting the exhibition and exploring current shop offerings, they returned to college to research trends and develop designs using techniques such as screen printing, weaving, and digital print.

Emma O’Neil, Education Officer at Ditchling Museum of Art & Craft recently visited the students to see their creations.

She praised the students’ creativity and professionalism during final presentations. A selection of their work will now be considered for sale in the museum shop.

The collaboration also supported sustainable design, with the museum’s dye garden inspiring a similar initiative at Northbrook. Two students attended the Ditchling Dyers open event, and one secured a place on the museum’s prestigious natural dye course.

This successful partnership highlights the value of real-world experience in creative education and sets the stage for future collaborations.
