Northbrook College students make their mark at ‘Fringes and Fibres’ exhibition
Five degree-level textile students from Northbrook College recently impressed visitors as they exhibited a variety of work at Colonnade House, a local art gallery in Worthing.
The exhibition, part of Worthing Festival, featured a dynamic collection of textiles showcasing a variety of disciplines, all produced by emerging artists and established names in the local creative community.
Among them were students Jane Rivers, Sandra Wheeler, Tracy Stripp, Susan Reid, and Michelle Wilcock. As well as creating stunning art pieces, they also had to consider how to label, display and price their artwork in a professional gallery setting, giving them real-world experience.
The team at Colonnade House were delighted at how the students had engaged with the exhibition, with plans to potentially collaborate further with some of the college’s final-year textile students on a student-curated showcase.
Textiles tutor Susan D’souza, who also had work featured in the exhibition, said:
“This was a great live textile art experience for students and has enhanced their professional experience.”
