Northbrook College students shine in BBC wedding planner show
Musical Theatre and Dance Degree students from Northbrook College helped to make wedding dreams come true for BBC show.
The students featured in the latest episode of BBC Two’s ‘Ultimate Wedding Planner’, which was broadcast on Tuesday night (12 September). The students performed a Regency style dance on the lawns at the beautiful Nonsuch mansion in Surrey, as part of one couple’s special day. Lecturer Keryie Vickers said: “This was an amazing experience for our students, who were able to gain a fantastic insight into the world of television, whilst helping make a couples dreams come true.
“I had provided a couple of performers, including our very own dance lecturer Jas Crawford for the semi-final of ‘The Ultimate wedding planner’ filmed at the Dome cinema in Worthing just a few weeks before. I mentioned then that we would be around to support if ever they needed us for anything else in the future and, sure enough, a week later they called to see if we would be interested in helping again.
“Of course, we jumped at the offer! Because of the nature of the show there was very little time to organise or plan anything and it all came about very quickly. “The contestants on the show only get a few days from learning the theme of the wedding before the big day, it’s incredible how quickly they turn it around. With only a couple of days’ notice and 25 performers it was all hands-on deck and I enlisted the help of third year Lauren Wild to help me put something together.
“When we arrived, we had a short period of time to put the themed performance together in a hotel bedroom and a bathroom, needing to stay out of view of the couple and their guests who were mid wedding! Our students rose to the challenge, and were really professional, pulling together something truly brilliant for the happy couple. “Being able to offer our students real-life opportunities, just like this one, is one of the highlights of our courses at Northbrook College. We give them the chance to put their skills to the test and for their talents to really shine.”
