Entry Requirements

Applicants should be at least 20 years of age. Unless they have an English or foreign language degree, or have had some EFL teaching experience, we strongly recommend that they should do the Northbrook College TESOL Preparatory Course before joining the TESOL Certificate course.

All candidates must have qualifications for entry to Higher Education or the equivalent in terms of demonstrated academic and study potential.

Please complete a personal statement with your application. Applicants will be invited to an interview and will be required to sit an assessment consisting of a language awareness test, short essay on a general topic and a self-assessment test.

Applicants who have not completed the Preparatory Course in TESOL will be required to successfully complete the Distance Learning Pack (covering the minimum content of the TESOL Preparatory Course) prior to the interview and on-site assessment

The TESOL Certificate is primarily aimed at native speakers who possess a high standard of written and spoken skills. Non-native speakers of English are required to have a high level of competence in written and spoken English and should hold one of the international language qualifications.
