COURSE OVERVIEW
Studying carpentry and joinery at Northbrook College is fun, exciting and will leave you with the skills, confidence and underpinning knowledge of construction in a wider context, as well as introducing the vital basics of carpentry and joinery.
You will learn key practical skills in producing woodworking joints, maintaining and using hand tools, and preparing and using portable power tools.

FURTHER INFORMATION
To enter this course, you will need evidence of secondary education and a satisfactory six week review.
After Level 1, you can progress to Level 2, either full-time or as an apprentice
Future careers include:
- Site carpenter
- Apprentice
- Self-employed builder
- Residential/domestic carpenter
- Commercial premises carpenter
- Foreman
You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.
