Drawing & Painting Foundation Key Skills

COURSE OVERVIEW

You will explore and develop a number of traditional drawing and painting skills through this guided step-by-step practice, whilst lightly experimenting with a few other creative approaches.

Key topics: observational drawing, measurement, composition, perspective, shape, line, tone and self-expression; wet and dry / mixed media; some colour theory; and material applications i.e. palette knife, dry brushing, glazing, ink and wash, etc.

By the end of the course, you will be able to show a developed and comprehensive understanding of both drawing and painting knowledge through practice, to plan ahead in your chosen medium and constructively problem-solve.

This course runs on a Friday 1230-1430.

Jason Powers: Teaching across the adult sector for over twenty years, covering a diverse range of creative interests (portraiture, life classes, drawing, painting, and mixed media) various learner skills and experiences, Jason shares his extensive knowledge and practice through a structured, relaxed and flexible approach to learning. Having studied at Chelsea, Falmouth and Chichester university, Jason continues to exhibit county wide and nationally, and often at the annual Discerning Eye exhibitions, London.
