COURSE OVERVIEW
Do you aspire for a career within the specialist area of fashion or textile design, then this is the course for you. It is a fast-paced and practical route, giving you the skills to develop ideas and design for a range of areas within the fashion and textiles creative industries sector.
You will develop your individual skills in pattern cutting, illustration, drawing, and construction and you’ll build a knowledge of traditional and digital printing skills using industry-standard facilities within our exciting and vibrant creative industries department. You will have the opportunity to discover your strengths and passion through projects and practical workshops enabling you to choose your specialism and focus on one of the many topic areas, bringing your creativity to life and defining your future path. All teaching staff are experts in their fields, are practicing professionals and are passionate about encouraging their students to uniquely expand their fashion and textiles skills.

This course can be studied over two years; the UAL Diploma is completed in the first year and the UAL Extended Diploma in the second year.

FURTHER INFORMATION
To join this Level 3 course, you should have at least four GCSEs at grade 4(C) or above, including English and maths, or a Level 2 qualification. You should also have a portfolio of your art/design work. If you do not have the above grades, you can start on Level 2 Art & Design.
On successful completion of the Diploma (Year 1), you can progress to the Extended Diploma course (Year 2).
Following completion of the Extended Diploma you can progress to university level, either at Northbrook College or at universities throughout the UK.
Many of our Creative Industries students continue their studies to degree-level, attending top universities including London College of Fashion, University of Westminster, Central Saint Martins and Kingston University. One of our Alumni Stefan Cooke who progressed on to Central Saint Martins to do a BA and then an MA now shows at London Fashion Week.
Our West Durrington Campus is a creative arts space with students studying at degree level in art & design disciplines as well as theatre arts and music. Degrees at Northbrook College include Fashion Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Textile Design or Theatre/Set Design.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.
Application Review Meeting
Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.
Accept Your Place
Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.

Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
