This course provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in media to explore, develop, and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating and demanding.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Based within the exciting and vibrant creative industries department our games development course will allow you to explore and develop creativity within a stimulating environment through a mix of practical and theoretical learning. With topics including 3D modelling, concept art and programming.
This level 1 course provides an introduction to games development and design, you will study historical contextual units and develop your style through practical animation and design modules.
You will study programming, learn logical problem solving and gain the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to progress to further study or employment in the fast-moving games industry. You will have the opportunity to work on real-life projects commissioned by internal and external clients.

Start at Level 1 if you have at least 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (F) or above, including English or maths.
After Level 1 you can progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology and then the Extended Diploma.

You will be assessed throughout your course via practical activity observations, academic coursework and industry placements. Assessments are based around ‘real-life’ projects and industry or workplace scenarios including work experience. Your final grade will be awarded as pass, merit or distinction.
