Northbrook College Art Students Shine in Colonnade House Exhibition
University of Arts London (UAL) Art Foundation Diploma students from Northbrook College showcased an impressive collection of artworks at Colonnade House in Worthing.
The exhibition, which ran in December, featured a wide variety of inspiring art works from students as well as works inspired by poetry, folk tales and fictional stories.
The Northbrook students, who study different pathways within the UAL diploma, took on different projects within the exhibition with the 3D pathway group working purely with cardboard, starting with a description of themselves and then using those words to create a cardboard relief which showed at least two aspects of their personality through a visual language.
The gallery also showcased work created under the theme ‘Re-imagined Animal Tales’, where students were tasked with reinterpreting animal imagery in their own unique styles.
Ellie Bond – Lecturer, who co-runs the course, said:
“To have this exhibition was an amazing opportunity, the space was ideal for the students to show off their diverse range of mixed media creations. To have work on show outside of the college in a public realm has given the students a taster of what it might be like as an artist in the industry.
“Colonnade Gallery were happy to hand over to three of our students – Melody, Dylan and Ant to curate and hang the show – which was also an invaluable experience to have as they begin to embark on their artistic careers.
“We, as a course team, are very proud of the students and what they have achieved, especially during a busy first term full of coursework, well done on a successful show!”
Helena Thomas, Principal of Northbrook College, added:
“This exhibition highlighted the exceptional talent and creativity of our Art Foundation students. It’s inspiring to see their dedication and innovation showcased in such a professional setting.
“Opportunities like this are invaluable for nurturing the next generation of artists, and we are immensely proud of their achievements.”
