Northbrook College celebrates its Stars of 2024

12 July 2024

Northbrook College marked a host of exceptional achievements at its annual Star Awards ceremony.

Held in collaboration with Worthing College, around 17 students and members of staff scooped awards at the ‘Stars of 2024’ evening on Thursday (27 June).

It was a night of celebration, where the college paid tribute to their hard work, determination and accomplishments over the past year.

Performances from the college’s students brought the ceremony to life, with beautiful renditions of ‘Empire State of Mind’ and ‘I Just Might’ (from the musical ‘9 to 5’).

It culminated in the announcement of the college’s Brightest Star award, won this year by Esme.

Esme has just completed a level 3 UAL (University of Arts London) diploma in photography, creative media & film and was shortlisted for the Solent 2024 Fine Art and Photography Competition.

Esme was unable to attend the ceremony, but was praised by staff in her citation who said:  “Esme is an industrious individual with a unique passion and drive to reach their career goals.

“The have demonstrated very real potential for success in the industry and beyond due to their outstanding work ethic, dedication and professionalism.”

Helena Thomas, Principal of Northbrook and Worthing Colleges, presented the awards alongside Shaun Mallin and Jenny Thompson, Vice Principals of Northbrook and Worthing Colleges respectively.

Helena said: “We enjoyed a fantastic night, with some fabulous performances from our talented students.

“Our Star Awards give us an opportunity to celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of our students and our staff. It was an inspiring evening and a reminder of how lives really can be changed through learning.

“My congratulations to all our award winners – and to Esme, a very worthy winner of the Brightest Star award. Esme’s drive and determination is something that makes us all proud.”
