Northbrook Student shortlisted for Fine Art & Photography competition
A Northbrook College student is in the running for an art competition.
Esme, a Level 3 Extended Diploma Photography, Creative Media & Film student, has been shortlisted for Solent University’s Fine Art and Photography Competition.
The competition is designed to celebrate some of the best art and photography from across the South.
The piece was part of her final major project, which centred around ‘Alice in Wonderland’ inspired photography.
Esme’s artwork, inspired by practitioners such as Brooke Shaden, Tim Walker and Francesca Woodman, featured three images expressing the chaos and ‘rabbit hole’ of time as something which is surrounding people every day.
Esme decided to focus on the confusion and stress of time, showing her interpretation of time as something which controls people and is a constant worry to people’s everyday lives.
Laura Sinton, Esme’s lecturer, said: “Esme has been able to experience a range of creative activities including photography and communication design, before making their decision as to what they would like to specialise in for the remainder of the course and beyond.
“Esme has been a fantastically dedicated student throughout their time on the course and has received extremely positive praise from both work experience placements they have been a part of this academic year. I have every confidence in Esme’s ability to succeed, not only in their educational pursuits, but also in their future career path.”
The prizegiving for the event will take place at Southampton Guildhall Square on Tuesday 30 April, with awards being given for first, second and third place.
