Planning permission secured for Northbrook College development
Northbrook College has been given planning approval for a new construction centre at its West Durrington campus.
The new Construction Trades Centre will accommodate construction courses across a variety of disciplines with specialist workshops for brickwork and carpentry.
It’s expected that work will begin on the site this summer, with the building due to open to students in Autumn 2025.
Northbrook College’s construction courses are currently delivered at the college’s Broadwater campus. These will be relocated to the new centre.
Helena Thomas, Principal at Northbrook College, said: “We are delighted to have been given the green light for our plans for a specialist construction centre at our West Durrington campus.
“This marks our commitment to ensuring our students have modern, industry standard facilities which meets the growing demand for construction courses in our region.”
The college, which is part of Chichester College Group, has worked with ECE Architecture to ensure sustainability is key to the project.
It includes renewable technologies including Air Source Heat Pumps and Photovoltaic Panels. It also aims to increase biodiversity on the site, by protecting existing trees and planting new, native species.
It was granted planning permission at the Worthing and Adur Planning Meeting, held on Wednesday 19 June.
