Whether you’re relocating to Worthing for your degree or just want some inspiration for things to do in the local area, this blog post celebrates all things that make Worthing a great place to live or study!

Named the ‘Best UK Seaside Town to move to in 2023’ (by lifestyle website Muddy Stilettos), Worthing is home to a plethora of independent businesses, from gift boutiques to intimate music venues, there is something for everyone.

Visit Independent Worthing for more information about local businesses you can support.

Check out the creative art scene

Our creative seaside community is home to museums, galleries, and pop-up venues. Have a wander along the sea front and you’ll spot the colourful East Beach artist studios where you can pick up quirky gifts, clothing and crafts.  Some of our favourites include Two Faced Twins art gallery (think vibrant Worthing seascapes and funky homeware) and Inspired Worthing (stocking eclectic jewellery, cards and gifts that have all been created by local artists and makers).

Make sure you take a visit to Colonnade House, a creative hub in the heart of Worthing town centre. They host multiple exhibitions throughout the year including artwork from our mature student community.

Entertainment

Did you know that Worthing has its very own games café? Dice (in Montague Street) offers a relaxed atmosphere where you can chill with friends, grab some snacks, and get competitive over a board game!  Up for a challenge? Why not take a trip to Worthing’s Escape Room venue, Mindworks and see if you can beat the clock.

For street food with friends, make sure you check out Level 1. During the summer months, they even host yoga classes overlooking the sea.

Get outdoors

Worthing has both the beach and countryside on its doorstep! Cycle through the stunning South Downs, or try out paddleboarding in one of West Sussex’s most popular watersport locations. Take a visit to Cissbury Ring, Sussex’s largest hillfort dating back over 5,000 years!
