Information about the additional learning support available at Northbrook College for university-level students.

The support we can offer

HE Facilitator / Support Assistant / Enhanced Support Assistant

The role includes:

Practical Support Assistant / Library Support Assistant / Workshop/Laboratory Assistant / Reader / Scribe / Sighted Guide / Proof Reader / Study Assistant / Examination Support Worker / Manual Notetaker

Functions include:
  • Providing practical support around the campus
  • Providing practical support in the library, laboratory or workshop/studio etc.
  • Reading aloud
  • Scribing
  • Text checking (pointing out errors but not providing corrections)
  • Supporting students to develop their independence and autonomy in HE, for example by providing support with issues such as timekeeping; organisational skills, etc and can be supplemented by practical support e.g. library support, workshop support, note-taking, etc.
  • Supporting a disabled student during examinations.

Currently Northbrook College ALS provision offers:

  • Note-taking is offered to students following guidance within their NAR.
  • Currently Northbrook do not offer Lens capture or Lecture Recording as standard practice.
  • Northbrook offer 8-10 weeks of basic support to applying DSA students.
  • Northbrook works closely with Clear Links, First Class Support and Randstad.

There is provision at Northbrook to support Face to Face DSA support sessions following the college policies and procedure for onsite visiting. Please contact our HR department to enquire jobs@gbmc.ac.uk
