If you aspire to be a versatile, creative, and technically skilled performer, our Musical Theatre course offers the perfect blend of professional training, industry experience, and performance opportunities to launch your career. This exciting course combines in-depth vocal coaching, acting techniques, and technical dance training across jazz, tap, ballet, contemporary, pas de deux, and commercial styles.
You’ll also develop essential skills in music theory, choral singing, choreography, acting through song, and audition preparation, ensuring you are fully equipped for the demands of the industry.
Throughout the course, you will have the chance to showcase your talents in full-scale musical productions, industry agent showcases, dance exhibitions, and performance at major festivals such as the Edinburgh and Brighton Fringe.
Our state-of-the-art facilities include 11 rehearsal studios, five with sprung dance floors and mirrors, as well as a professional-standard theatre with cutting-edge lighting, sound, and auditorium equipment. Collaboration is at the heart of this course, providing unique opportunities to work with students in makeup, costume, props, dance, music, and technical theatre to create full realised productions.

Northbrook Theatre:
You will have the opportunity to showcase your talents in our 160-seat, professionally equipped theatre on campus, as well as present your skills at external venues through a variety of exciting platforms, including showcases, cabarets, and fringe productions.
External performance opportunities have included:
- Move IT Dance Exhibition at Earls Court Olympia and London Excel
- Creating and performing work for corporate events
- Voiceover work and promotional videos
- Performing at cabarets in bars and pub venues
- Modelling in catwalk shows
- Appearing in short films and adverts
- Performing live or pre-recorded concerts
- A week-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe

On campus, we have two versatile performance spaces: The Northbrook Theatre and Studio 21. These spaces are designed to be flexible and adaptable, mirroring the types of environments you will encounter in professional industry.

We look at each application individually, considering your grades, interview performance, portfolio, or audition, and any relevant experience. While we typically expect the following qualifications:
- A relevant A-level qualification, or
- A level 3 Extended Diploma
We understand that not everyone follows the same path. If you don’t meet the standard entry requirements, don’t worry- there are still plenty of ways to show us what you’re capable of! Show us your potential through:

What do I need to prepare for my audition/interview?
As part of the application process, you will be required to audition and attend an interview. Please prepare two contrasting Musical Theatre songs to be performed unaccompanied. Additionally, you will participate in a dance class, so be sure to bring appropriate clothing for movement and dance.

Graduates of this course have gone on to perform in leading West End and UK touring productions, cruise ship entertainment, TV, and film, as well as securing role as commercial dancers, backing singers, recording artists, choreographers, and drama educators. Our alumni have appeared in major productions such as Hamilton, Wicked, Les Misérables, Sister Act, Kinky Boots, Six ,Be More Chill, Starlight Express, and School of Rock, while others have taken on creative roles behind the scenes.
