HeNC Engineering for England. This part-time programme will help you develop a wide range of practical and digital skills to prepare you for the exciting world of modern engineering.
COURSE OVERVIEW
Students will construct a straightforward garment during the course such as askirt, simple dress or jumpsuit fitted perfectly to yourself.
You will gain confidence using a sewing machine and an overlocker and learn professional finishes, how to insert a zip or buttonholes, how to read a commercial pattern and understand its terminology. The course is designed for those with basic or no previous knowledge of sewing. Whether you haven’t done any sewing in 40 years or have never sat at a sewing machine in your life, this course is for you.
By the end of the course you will be able to operate a sewing machine, construct a simple garment and choose commercial patterns, fabric and haberdashery appropriate for your use. In addition to the cost fees, students will be required to purchase their own material, pattern and sewing sundries.
Students are required to bring large and small sharp fabric scissors, pins, tape measure and thread to every lesson. Please could students wait until after first class before purchasing pattern and fabric as this is topic of first class. Students need to budget around £20-50 for materials for their chosen garment
Tutors: Claire Smith. This course will run on a Tuesday evening 1830-2100
